Rack Rails

Rack mount rails are simply mounting brackets to put servers and other networking equipment into a rack cabinet.

Rack rails differ by:

  • Manufacturer
  • Server Model and
  • Server Version.

In other words, you will need to know who manufactured your server, the server model and the generation / version to correctly find the rack rails to purchase.

For example, HP uses different rail kits for their:

  • ProLiant DL360 Gen 2 Server,
  • ProLiant DL360 Gen 6,
  • ProLiant DL380 Gen 2 Server, or
  • ProLiant DL380 Gen 6 servers.
